Talley was a pioneering Pinot Noir producer in the Arroyo Grande Valley, planting their first vineyard in 1982 and making their first wine in 1986. Antonio Galloni of Antonio Galloni's Vinous rated this wine 90 points. “The 2022 Pinot Noir Estate is a fine introduction to the Pinots in this range. Crushed flowers, kirsch, sweet red cherry, cedar, pipe tobacco and sweet spice all grace this mid-weight, ethereal Pinot. Silky tannins wrap it all together effortlessly.” (July 2024).

This is a brilliant appellation cuvée, starting with aromas of cinnamon, rosewater, red plum and strawberry on the nose. The palate lands with smooth, polished tannins, presenting creamy cherry sorbet, red flower and white pepper flavors, both juicy and restrained.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is a very pretty, sensual wine. Crushed red cherry fruit, kirsch, mint, blood orange, spice and dried flowers all grace this silky, open-knit Pinot. The translucent, soft style is quite appealing.

I loved the 2021 Pinot Noir Estate, a rounded, medium-bodied, complex effort that has assorted sweet cherry and raspberry fruit, some spicy, herbal nuances, ripe tannins, and a lengthy finish. It's not the most complex or layered Pinot Noir out there, but it sure is fun to drink.
